Where Are We ?

We are located in the heart of the village of Taffs Well. We are a community-building providing modern and suitable facilities for local residents. It’s not a council building but is run by volunteers, and sustained by hires. It is available for use for classes, fitness, events, fundraisers, and whatever the community needs.

Main Hall Hire

The Main Hall is an excellent large area which will hold 180 people maximum. The Hall has been refurbishedd to a high standard with brand new dance floor and stage area.

Committee Room

This meeting room is the largest and can comfortably sit 40 people classroom style or boardroom style. The room is airy and bright.

Kitchen

The Kitchen can be booked for use with the main hall and both meeting rooms. Containing fridge, Urn, mugs and cutlery, storage and serving hatch.

Bar

The Bar can be booked for use with the main hall and both meeting rooms.

The Committee

A brief profile of the current Officers and committee members of the hall.

Trustee and Chairman

Mike Phillips

Trustee and Chairman for the past three years. Mike was an engineer by trade and after being made redundant, retrained and went on to become a Senior Information Analyst, working in the NHS for thirty years.

Mike was an engineer by trade and after being made redundant, retrained and went on to become a Senior Information Analyst, working in the NHS for thirty years. He was born in Gwaelod-Y-Garth and has lived locally all his life. He has a great deal of experience as a chairman of a number of organisations. One of a small team responsible for co-ordinating the volunteers at the hall for the delivery food parcels and medication during the Covid-19 pandemic Has a great passion for the future development of the village hall and for the community in general.
Accounts Manager and Trustee

Allister Parkinson

Allister moved to Taff's Well in 1998, in search of green space and good transport links to Cardiff and has felt at home here ever since, having previously lived in Cardiff and various places in England.

He is a qualified accountant currently working for the Welsh Government in the housing team having worked for various Housing Associations for 20 years.
Grants Manager and Trustee

Lyn Phillips

Worked in the NHS as a dialysis technician before moving to the private sector specialising in water treatment.

Worked exceptionally hard during the lockdown to bring in grant money to enable the much needed refurbishment work to commence. Married with three children and a keen cyclist.
Bookings Administrator

Jake Fenner

Jake lives in Nantgarw and is a Psychology Student and avid sports fan.

He joined the committee recently as he enjoys volunteering and wants to make a difference in the local community.

Gillian Phillips

Gill grew up in Ty Rhiw and has lived locally all her life, key worker who helps out at all events at the hall and manages the successful Friday coffee mornings.

Trustee and Vice Chairman

Carol Morgan

Trustee and Treasurer for the last twelve years and have been associated with the hall for the last twenty years.

Carol is Taff's Well born and bred but now lives in Nantgarw. Currently working as an Administrator for a building merchant in Cardiff, but has also worked for British Telecom and Cylch Meithrin Gwaelod Y Garth and in the school. Hobbies include skittles and genealogy, loves walking and travel.
Trustee

Paul Ashman

Trustee and Committee member been associated with the hall for three years, born and brought up inTaffs Well.

Has been involved in many local village activities over the years and runs the local social media groups for Taff's Well and surrounding area. Works in the transport sector for many years.
Committee member

Sheena Tipple

Lives locally and has a keen interest in horses. Helps out at all events and jointly runs the successful Friday coffee morning.

The skills, experience and interests of the committee members are varied and shared in a highly productive way to ensure that they respond to the challenges ahead and actively participates in developing new approaches to local problems as they arise. Further committee members are appointed as representatives of groups using the hall on a regular basis and volunteers are are always welcome.Taff's Well Village Hall is an essential part of rural life, almost the whole community has a stake in it. The village hall is for all of us and should involve all of us.

Ann Williams

Ann moved to Taff's Well in 2004, having originally moved from North Wales. She has worked for the NHS for nearly forty years and loves the friendly village atmosphere.

Ann has worked on a voluntary basis for two local charities and is a member of the local litter picking group. Ann often helps out at coffee mornings and enjoys working for the community.
Secretary and Trustee

Liz Lawrence

Liz has a background in primary teaching but she now works for Action for Children as a Project Support Officer and Trainer on The Guide Project; which focuses on developing mental health literacy in children and young people.

She runs the weekly baby and toddler group at the hall and is currently training to become a Play Therapist. She was born and raised in Pontypridd and has lived in Taff's Well with her family for seven years.
Committee member

Dawn Fenner

Dawn a mum of two grown up children and works full time in an office. She became the first secretary when the new committee was formed, but reluctantly stepped down from the position this year, due to work commitments.

Runs a successful Craft Class on a Thursday evening. Bubbly personality and loves working for the community.
